Scott Mongeon began working for his horseman father, John Sr. jogging at the age of fifteen, and was licensed to drive and train by 1980, the year he graduated from Saratoga High. Scott groomed for Paul Onyon and Wayne Harrington while training for his father, and in 1983 began conditioning his own stable. Scott drove Taipo Lad N to victory in the $10,000 Final of the Claiming Series (1986) and was awarded the Johnny Page award for best up-an-coming driver in 1988. Scott won the $1,000 Saratoga Driving Championship, May 28, 1998 on the final race of the competition with 83 pts.

Scott won his first race in 1993 at The Meadowlands with Triplexity., making this one of his favorite horses along with Flapjack Attack. Scott received his 1,000 driving win Oct. 12, 2002 with BL Lady Di. Scott was awarded the Horseman of the Year and Trainer of the Year in 2002. In 2007, Scott trained and drove Ackbro Ms Perfect, which went on to win Aged Trotter and Trotter of the Year awards. In 2008, Scott finished tenth in Saratoga’s driving standings and seventh in the trainer standings.  Scott finished 22nd in 2009 in driver standings due to leaving before the end of the meet.
